The Trumpchi M6 is a compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) under GAC Motor's GAC Trumpchi brand, first launched in 2019 after being renamed from the earlier Trumpchi GM6. As a cornerstone model in GAC Trumpchi's family MPV portfolio, the M6 targets the RM100,000 to RM150,000 family MPV segment, emphasising "true seven-seater capability, generous cabin space, and high value for money" to cater to both growing families and corporate transport needs. In October 2022, the M6 received an annual update featuring the "Flying Dynamics 3.0" family design language; the M6 MAX subsequently debuted at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024 with a thoroughly redesigned front fascia; the M6 MAX Luxury Edition and the 2026 M6 MAX followed in July 2025 and May 2026, respectively, further upgrading its onboard tech and smart features. As of June 2026, the official retail pricing for the 2026 M6 MAX lineup ranges from RM99,800 to RM119,800, with showroom prices dipping as low as RM88,800 to RM107,600 after accounting for government and manufacturer incentives.

Design Language
The Trumpchi M6 lineup has undergone multiple styling iterations over the years. Earlier models adopted the "Flying Dynamics 3.0" design language, distinguished by a prominent multi-slat front grille paired with matrix full-LED headlamps. Along the sides, a floating roof design combined with blacked-out B- and C-pillars alongside a sleek waistline lends the silhouette a crisp, modern profile. From 2025 onwards, the M6 MAX range adopted an all-new "Dragon Face" design ethos, headlined by an expansive waterfall-style cascading grille ("Nine Heavens" grille) featuring 28 horizontal louvres that symbolise traditional lunar solar terms. Flanked by sharp blade-style air ducts on the front bumper, the styling delivers heightened road presence and visual impact, bringing it closer to the flagship M8 Master Edition. The LED headlamps evoke an assertive dragon motif with integrated triple-segmented daytime running lights (DRLs), delivering an illumination range of up to 300 metres at night. At the rear, the full-width LED light bar is retained, housing 264 LED diodes with a rapid brake-light response of 0.3 seconds, complemented by a hexagonal registration plate recess that balances the overall aesthetic. Inside, earlier models offered an elegant dual-tone Mystic Purple and Black theme, accented with satin chrome trim on the door panels as well as quilted and perforated upholstery. The 2026 M6 MAX adopts a floating central display and a steering column-mounted gear selector, significantly decluttering the centre console to free up space for a wireless charging pad and twin cup holders, shifting the interior aesthetic towards a cleaner, EV-inspired layout.
Powertrain Performance
Across the range, the Trumpchi M6 is powered by GAC Trumpchi's Mega Wave Power third-generation 1.5T GDI turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine (code: 4A15J2). Utilising a 350-bar high-pressure direct injection system and Miller-cycle technology, the unit produces 130 kW (approx. 177 PS) and 270 Nm of torque, with maximum torque spread across a wide band from 1,400 to 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), engineered with a wet-clutch setup for superior thermal management and long-term durability. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds, with a top speed of 190 km/h. In terms of fuel economy, it is rated at 7.22 L/100 km under the WLTC cycle (6.5 L/100 km under NEDC), requiring minimum RON 92 fuel. In real-world driving conditions, urban stop-and-go traffic (averaging 18 km/h) yields around 8.5 to 10.5 L/100 km, while highway cruising drops to between 6 and 7 L/100 km. Equipped with a 52-litre fuel tank, the M6 offers a total cruising range exceeding 700 km.
Chassis and Handling
The Trumpchi M6 adopts a front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) configuration across all variants, underpinned by front MacPherson struts and a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension setup. The decision to use a rear torsion beam was driven not only by cost efficiency, but also by packaging needs—allowing the third-row seats to fold completely flat into the boot floor. Suspension damping is tuned firmly towards passenger comfort, soaking up minor road imperfections with ease, though some secondary rebound can be felt over harsher speed bumps. Body roll during high-speed cornering is measured at around 15°, which is roughly 3° to 5° more than multi-link rivals, placing natural limits on dynamic handling. Steering is handled by an electric power steering (EPS) system, delivering a tight turning radius of 5.8 metres—besting competitors like the Honda Odyssey. Braking is managed by ventilated discs up front and solid discs at the rear, paired with an electronic parking brake (EPB) and 215/55 R17 tyres as standard. Drivers can toggle between Eco, Standard, and Sport modes, with the overall chassis setup prioritising daily driving refinement and modular interior practicality.
Cabin and Features
The cabin of the Trumpchi M6 focuses heavily on modular practicality and family-friendly conveniences. Configured as a 2+2+3 seven-seater, the second row features standalone captain seats with 175 mm of fore-aft sliding range and up to 140° of backrest recline. The third-row seats fold flush into the floor, expanding boot capacity from 324 litres to an impressive 1,100 litres, effortlessly transitioning between a "true seven-seater" and a "spacious four-seater" lounge setup. Onboard tech has progressed across updates: the 2025 M6 MAX came standard with dual screens comprising a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay, Baidu CarLife, and Huawei HiCar, along with 4G telematics on selected trims. The 2026 M6 MAX upgrades to a 10.25-inch plus 15.6-inch dual-screen cockpit, debuting the ADiGO 6.0 intelligent operating system with pre-installed AutoNavi Maps v810. For creature comforts, high-spec variants feature a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-speaker audio system, and a powered tailgate. Practical touches include ample cabin cubbies, dedicated third-row air vents, and second-row seatback fold-out tray tables, enhancing convenience on long road trips.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
In terms of active safety and intelligent driver assistance, the Trumpchi M6 family displays a clear tiered configuration strategy. High-spec models are equipped with Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), incorporating Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). A 360-degree surround-view monitor with a transparent chassis view is also available on higher variants to aid parking and navigating tight spaces. Passive safety includes standard front dual airbags, front side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags, with range-topping trims providing up to six airbags. High-strength steel accounts for 93% of the passenger cell structure, bolstering overall torsional and crash rigidity. However, entry-level variants exhibit a notable disparity in safety equipment, with certain base trims coming with just two airbags and omitting active driver aids.
Market Performance and Evaluation
The Trumpchi M6 enjoyed strong commercial success following its initial launch, registering cumulative sales of over 130,000 units by May 2022 and frequently leading the RM100,000 to RM150,000 family MPV sales charts. However, shifting market dynamics have triggered a downward trend since 2024: total sales reached 48,362 units in 2024 before dropping to 25,942 units in 2025—a 46.4% year-on-year contraction. Between January and April 2026, monthly deliveries fluctuated between 1,146 and 2,912 units, with April volume settling at 1,146 units, ranking 25th in the overall MPV segment. Nonetheless, cumulative sales of GAC Trumpchi's wider MPV portfolio have surpassed 860,000 units, maintaining a leading position among Chinese brand MPVs for several consecutive years, ensuring the M6 retains a dedicated following. In the marketplace, the M6 competes against rivals such as the SAIC Maxus G50, Wuling Jiachen, and BYD Song MAX. Its key strengths lie in its clever packaging, dependable fuel efficiency, and aggressive pricing, though it faces stiff competition from newer-generation rivals in terms of NEV electrification, software capabilities, and low-speed NVH insulation. As a strategic pillar in GAC Trumpchi's family MPV lineup, the M6 continues to defend its footprint in the RM100,000-class segment through ongoing M6 MAX updates and competitive pricing.
